Where does stress come from?
Have you ever noticed that much of our stress in life involves areas in our lives over which we have stewardship? Our money. Our time. Our choices. We don't have to be victims of our stress.
Many of the areas on the chart above relate particularly to money. Whether it is our own personal finances (debt, income, material needs, etc.) or whether it is the economy, money is definitely a source of potential stress.
We have found, at Faith Investment Services, that facing money issues head-on is more than half of the battle. Take time to write down what you have, what you owe, where your money is going (literally write it down!) and ask God to speak to you in the process. Sometimes, you will experience a sense of clarity that wasn't there before. Other times, you'll see trends or patterns that you can change. Other times still, there will be a motivation to act. We believe that when you face your financial situation honestly with an ear toward God, he often gives direction that helps alleviate the stress.
According to stewardship.com "The Bible references money and possessions 2,350 times. That’s a lot. It’s more than Jesus talked about love, and more than He talked about heaven and hell combined." It could be that he's still speaking, if we'll listen. This doesn't have to be seen as a negative thing. In fact, it should not be seen negatively. The God of the universe cares enough about you to enter your financial scene -- can you imagine that?!!?
If, at any point along the way, you want to let us in on what God is telling you, we'd love to listen and be a sounding board.
