The word 'charity' has several different definitions. Its original meaning was equated with Christian love for one's fellow man and up until the early 1900s, this concept of Agape Love was the essential meaning of charity.
The word has since come to mean "providing for those in need; generosity and giving," which is still rooted in love but has a more tangible meaning. Most of us have been on the receiving end of charity at some point in our lives and, hopefully, on the giving end as well.
As we focus on thankfulness in November, it could be very meaningful to focus on charity as well. This can happen through your church, a charitable organization dear to your heart, in your neighborhood or family - and in dozens of other ways. Be on the lookout for areas where you can participate in loving your fellow man!
