Social influence comprises the ways in which individuals change their behavior to meet the demands of a social environment. It takes many forms and can be seen in conformity, socialization, peer pressure, obedience, leadership, persuasion, sales, and marketing.
What kinds of things influence your decisions? These factors can be internal or external and, quite often, they can be hard for us to see for ourselves. We might not recognize it when our emotions (or fear) are guiding us, especially if this has become a pattern in our lives.
On the bright side, there are many opportunities for positive, life-giving influences in our lives. Encounters with trusted friends, counsel from an "older, wiser" person, principles from Scripture, research from trusted sources -- all of these can be beneficial in influencing us in a positive way.
If you want to get past "stinking thinking", seek positive influences in your life. This can be true in your finances, your worldview, your career path, your relationships, and more.
