05-10-2016 - Career Test online & The Party

With two of our staff members working on high school graduation plans with their children, it seemed timely to focus on graduation in this issue. If this doesn't pertain to you, forward it to someone who is in the trenches right now!

Actually the career test is appropriate for a variety of ages.  Take a look!

Events like high school graduation cause us to pause, at least for a moment, and think about ourselves and our future.  What does God want me to do?  What am I designed for -- what is my purpose?  Should I go to college, get technical training, start in the workforce, or what?

This simple online career test will quickly assess your interests (or your teen's or young adult's) and help you determine what career to pursue. There are, of course, a variety of tests like this.  This particular one is free, quick, and insightful.  It only took me about 3 minutes to take the 51 question test.  Take a look!

Party Planning

For some, it is a family tradition to hold a graduation party for their child. If having a party is on your agenda this month or next, here is a simple guide to help you plan the food for the event.  One important thing that I gleaned from the guide is that each family should feel free to be different -- you don't have to do what everyone else is doing!!  It is our tendency in America to go bigger and bigger and bigger and pretty soon we can feel like we need to 'outdo' other people in our celebration.  Instead of outdoing, it should be our goal to celebrate -- without regard to what others expect or think of us.

You may want to have a small family gathering or a dessert-only party. You may want to have close friends over for a bonfire.  You may decide not to have a party at all.  And that's ok:)   Please use this guide if it is helpful to you.
