We at Faith Investment Services are looking forward to bringing this educational seminar to Bluffton this spring. Much has been written about the 'rite of passage' from child to caregiver -- and many adults find themselves either caring for aging parents or walking alongside their parents through the later years. Of course, untimely death can result in the early loss of a parent as well.
There is quite a bit of unnecessary mystery surrounding this particular transition -- "How do I talk to my parents about their health and ultimately their death? How do care well for Mom and Dad and still respect their independence? Where do I begin to sort through their affairs after they die? Will Dad even talk to me about his financial situation? Is there a good way to have these conversations now?"
Join us --
(in the lower level conference room) as we unpack the issues surrounding the death of a parent. Gary Reese, Investment Adviser Representative, and Scott Basinger, Attorney at Law will discuss legal issues, dealing with inheritance, tax implications, practical ways to comfort & care for parents, and the financial implications surrounding the death of a parent.
Listen! We know this isn't a fun topic!! However, if you are honest with yourself, you know that unless you die first, you will be faced with the loss of your parents. Why not take a couple of hours in a non-threatening environment and learn how you can be prepared in practical ways? In fact, this would be a good place to come as a family -- parents and adult children -- to listen, learn, and ask important questions.
